Tsunami Alert: LEVEL 2 - PHILVOCS

Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology - PHILVOCS released Tsunami Alert Level 2, this is due to the devastating earthquake that shocked Chile Saturday morning. The 8.8 magnitude earthquake killed almost 214 people in Chile according to news, and this resulted to tsunami that even reached the shores of Australia, New Zealand, and other countries facing the Pacific Ocean.

Since it's already summer here in the Philippines people are rushing to beaches specially during this weekend. It's very untimely to get distressed by this report. But it's better to be safe and cautious to make sure that no untoward incident will happen to us an our family. 
Though alert level 2 according to PHILVOCS does not bring devastating waves, waves may be unusual and can be as high as 1 - 2 meters. This maybe fatal to some specially to those who are not good swimmers, so be safe. The tsunami waves are expected to reach the Philippines shore today 1:00PM - 2:30PM . Here are the list of provinces that might experience the tsunami waves (This is according to PHILVOCS):

Northernmost areas of Ilocos Norte
Isabela
Quezon

So if you have family members and friends who will be out there in beach specially on the provinces mention above, make sure to let them know about this. Keep them safe, advised them to be more cautious be vigilant to their surrounding. To those who live in the shores of the identified areas, PHILVOCS says that residents should coordinate and follow safety instructions from the Office of Civil Defense and local disaster officials.
